Terri Cope Walton
Terri Cope Walton is the Vice President and General Manager for WJXT-TV/WCWJ-TV in Jacksonville, Florida. She has held that position since November 2021.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, Walton is no stranger to the southern Georgia and northeast Florida area. Since relocating back to the south, she has immersed herself in the Jacksonville community. Walton is on the Board of Directors of the Florida Association of Broadcasters, the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of Northeast Florida, the Board of Directors of High School 9:12, a Chairmen’s Club Member for Gator Bowl Sports and a Trustee for the JAX Chamber of Commerce.
She is also a member of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Suncoast Chapter, the National Association of Black Journalists, Northeast Florida Chapter, and a lifetime member of the Jacksonville Broadcasters Association.
Walton is an alumna of Leadership Jacksonville (New Leadership Summit 2023) and a proud member of the Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and the Bold City Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. She is a lifetime member of the National Association of Black Journalists and a former fellow for the Carole Kneeland Project for Responsible Journalism.
Cope Walton is an award-winning journalist. Before settling in Jacksonville, Walton spent more than two decades at WRTV in Indianapolis, Indiana where she served in several roles, including senior director of news.
Walton has a B.A. in English Literature from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio and is a lifetime member of the Central State University General Alumni Association and an inductee in the Central State Alumni Achievement Hall of Fame. Walton and her husband have two children and extended family in Florida and Georgia.
