Welcome Kathleen!
Waste Not Want Not is pleased to welcome our new Executive Director – Dr. Kathleen Spears. Dr. Spears started September 3, 2024 and has hit the ground running! You may be able to catch her at the Castle or buzzing around at the Challenge Enterprises office. But if not, she welcomes a call or email from you. She and Sandra will be working together over the next 90 days to ensure a smooth transition as Sandra looks forward to her retirement.
Dr. Spears – or Kathleen as she likes to be called – joins us from Walmart Health where she worked with the retail giant to facilitate the delivery of world class primary care to members of our community. She studied health care administration and community health at Texas Woman’s University and has worked with many nonprofits both as an executive director and as a consultant where she helped the organizations achieve strategic growth and sustainability.
Here’s a little more about Kathleen:
* She was born and raised in Erie, PA
* She is the youngest of 9 siblings and has 17 nieces and nephews.
* She has no children of her own but helped to raise 3 of her siblings’ children.
* She does count her 11-year-old 13-pound chihuahua Bella as her “fur baby”.

Favorite TV Show – It’s off the air now but I stream it from start to finish every so often – the Sopranos
Favorite Book – Don’t judge me but I have read the entire Twilight series a few times – I HAD to see what all the fuss was about!
Favorite Pastime – Rucking or Hiking at Timucuan Preserve and traveling
Favorite thing about Waste Not Want Not – the mission and its VOLUNTEERS!
